Bridge over Ter river. Sant Quirze de Besora. Spain

2010. Sant Quirze de Besora. Barcelona

Status: Under development.
Scope of our works: Document for alternatives. Construction document.
Client: Barcelona Provincial Council.

Description and main features: The preexisting bridge was built in 1922 by José Eugenio Ribera in Sant Quirze de Besora (Barcelona). It has a total lenght of 64 meters.
To make possible two-way transit and safer pass of pedestrians the best option is extend the deck from 6 to 10.7 meters. Following rationalist style, we built variable edge concrete cantilever with central ribs every two meters. There are also steel brace struts over piles and abutments and a balaustrade made on steel and concrete.
Works will be conditioned by several factors -the area is small for maneuvers, we need to keep the bridge opened for pedestrians during the day- so we will use prefab concrete elements that will be mounted combining launching and hoisting systems.
